He's already successfully managed to procure a promise from Medvedev and Putin that they would decrease their number of nuclear armaments (a joke in and of itself). Rockwell. This guy sent out job applications and went to only 4 interviews! That's working for the welfare. This guy even had to sell some of his sports memorabilia collection to make ends meet. John Smith said "He who does not work shall not eat."

Guess what? It looks like my generation might actually get to see a glimpse of Russia's U.S.S.R. antics. Russia is currently considering a bill to expand the definition of "treason" which (in a nutshell) would redefine 'free-speech' with regards to politicial critics and such. To make matters worse, a bill was passed last week that eliminated jury trials for treason cases, according to the NY Times article. Just as a thought, Vladmir Putin (current Russian Prime Minister) was indeed a former K.G.B. officer and in a previous news conference, he said that he wouldn't rule out the possibility of him running for president in the next election. Good grief.

Ok. NYC commuters, let me ask you a question: how much do you pay by driving through a toll? How many NY'ers drive through a toll on a daily basis? Not to mention all the workers that drive in from NJ. And why is it that Patterson needs to tax things like soda and iTunes purchases?

In other news, the shoe that was thrown at President Bush in Iraq this past week is now in high demand in Iraq, China, Lebanon and Turkey, according to a New York Times article. It looks like businessmen have now found a new way to market their products.

<img width='1' Burning the Country

"Although [Russia's oil] reserves are the world's third-largest behind China and Japan, it has been spending tens of billions of dollars in an attempt to prop up its falling ruble and stave off public panic." This Wall Street Journal article goes on to say how last weekend, a host of "angry residents...of Vladivostok" protested the Kremlin putting a tariff on imported secondhand cars.

As much as Leftist anti-capitalists would have people believe, government-intervention is never the way to go to solve an economic crisis. It was not the New Deal that brought America out from under the Great Depression; it was WWII that caused American industry to kick it up a notch and produce more and hire more workers.

Unemployment technically may have gone down, but there was no stimulation of production or economic growth of any kind. And why is that? Because when the govenrment controls the modes of economic growth, the Washingtonians decide how much you can make, what you can or can't make, how much of it you can make, and how rich or poor you can be. When the government has its hands directly affecting your life, it creates a roof that allows you to grow so much so that your potential is stiffled in the name of "equality". Guess what? Karl Marx had the same idea when he called the Proletariats of the industrialized world to overthrow the Bourgeoise and to "spread the wealth".

To make things even worse, we have a "Conservative" Republican president who is giving the thumbs up for giving the "Big Four" car companies a sum of money so their failing companies can stay afloat.

And let us not forget the straw that broke the camel's back with the beginning of this economic crisis we read about every day - Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. "Everybody has the right to own a house - this is America, for crying out loud!" That's what Liberal Democrats would have had people to believe during the Great Depression (when Fannie Mae was created) and during the recession of the 70's (when Freddie Mac was created). But hey. "Life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness" was guaranteed in the Constitution. Notice how it says "PURSUIT" and not simply happiness. How can anyone guarantee happiness? As the stock market freefall shows, no one can guarantee anything. But oh! This is America, and we must help the little man! And everyone needs a house! Yes, but can everyone afford a house? Does 'shelter' directly imply a 'house'? If not, why are YOU making decisions for us that affect our livelihood?

This isn't to say that we should not give ourselves what we 'want' but seirously; if you can't afford it, why kid yourself? Don't buy something you don't have the means to pay for! You're just fooling yourself and putting others at risk. And look where this has gotten us.

<img President-elect Barack Obama will be sworn in on Januar 20, 2009 as the first African-American president of the United States as the 44th president. But, can Obama really be trusted to be tough on
